I walked, caught a tram, and the underground, doing my favourite thing when travelling; soaking up the local culture, finding similarities and contrasts. I came across a small, but enthusiastic protest about the brutality in Egypt. I was moved by the story I was told about the murderous actions of the military against a democratically elected government and its constituents. As much as it was a political event, it was also a social one. It was reassuring to see women there, not only joining the protest vocally, but also at times leading the chants.
At the feet of the grand St Stephen's Cathedral, it was totally unexpected.
